Last night I made a quick appearance at the 3rd Annual Desire Desserts Event which was held in the beautiful historic part of Raleigh, NC. I was happily surprised to see it being hosted in a restored old home right by the Krispy Kreme donut shop. It's my most favorite neighborhood in this entire metropolitan area because of the Victorian homes (mansions).
The night was cool, much cooler than I had anticipated. I showed up wearing sandals and a short sleeved shirt and was chilled by the time I walked from my car to the event. The woman at the ticket table looked cold as she handed me my ticket but she was cheerful and offered a greeting with a smile.
Once inside the facility, now an art gallery instead of a home, I was given a warm welcome by Michelle Ifill from Selections Entertainment. She really did a great job rounding up all of the bakers for the event. There was more cake there that even I could possibly eat, and that's saying quite a lot!
Each baker had a table, and each table had a variety of confections ranging from cakes to cookies to candies. After the first room, my taste buds were rather confused so I did not do any critiques at the event, although I did take a lot of mental notes not only on the desserts present, but on the overall event itself.
I met many, many wonderful bakers and hope to hear from each of them on an individual basis. I have a lot of input available to each one, all on different levels.
