I am hosting my first ever Halloween party this year, which is slightly surprising since it's one of my favorite holidays. I love autumn--the crisp cool nights, the soups and cakes, and the lack of mosquitoes and sunburns. This is the time of year when I begin to really bake, and of course, gain the weight that seems to pile on every year the older I get, and harder to come off.
Nevertheless, I keep doing it year after year. Today I will be baking up "witch fingers" and some sort of cupcakes. I was thinking of the "True Blood" cupcakes, but honestly, I don't want to stray from my haunted house theme. Witch fingers kind of still work for that them, but I am lacking other ideas. Nothing like waiting until the last minute to plan a menu, eh? LOL
I actually have the savory part of the menu figured out, and that's not a problem. I have the whole day Saturday to cook up a storm in my vintage apron from the 1950s.
Costumes you ask? Well...that's another thing I need to do. Dragging out the old sewing machine 3 days before the event is typical for me. I tend to wait until the last minute to work my magick...
I'm going to be a ghost. How hard is that anyway? It seems only fitting for the hostess to be the ghost of her Haunted "Mansion" (and I say mansion with a chuckle as that's far from what I live in...).
Wish me luck here in the next few days and shoot me an email with ideas you might have. I love hearing from you all!
Michelle
